iGlowNestSunset Lamp & Galaxy Projector: The TikTok Bedroom Glow, Explained
Sunset lamps and galaxy projectors took over TikTok bedrooms. Here is the no-hype version: what they are, how they differ, and how to use them.
The TikTok glow, explained
You've seen it โ a bedroom washed in pink-orange light, looking like a movie scene. That's the sunset lamp (and its cousin, the galaxy projector) doing the heavy lifting. They're not just pretty; they're the laziest glow-up your room will ever get. Here's the real deal, no influencer fluff.
What's the trend, really?
Creators aim a tiny light at a wall or ceiling and boom โ sunset gradient, ocean waves, starry sky. It turns a boring rental into a main-character backdrop. No commitment, peels right off your aesthetic whenever you want.
Sunset lamp vs galaxy projector โ which is which?
- โSunset / ambient projector: throws colorful gradients and moving light onto your wall. Great for walls โ try the 16-color ambient projector lamp or the waterproof ocean projector for bathrooms.
- โGalaxy projector: projects stars and nebula clouds on the ceiling โ more of a 'sleep under the sky' vibe. The galaxy star projector even throws in a Bluetooth speaker.
How to actually make it look good
- โPoint a sunset lamp at a blank wall behind your bed or desk.
- โRun a galaxy projector on the ceiling for a calm wind-down routine.
- โLayer both: stars above, sunset on the wall.
- โUse them as a backdrop for video calls and photos.
What to look for when buying
- โMultiple colors + a remote.
- โRechargeable (cordless = more places to put it).
- โAn auto-off timer (handy as a nightlight).
- โSolid build โ the cheap ones flicker.

Frequently asked questions
Are sunset lamps worth it, or just a trend?+
Worth it if you want instant room mood without decorating. They're cheap, reusable, and move with you โ a low-risk upgrade.
Can a galaxy projector do the northern lights?+
Many do. Look for an 'aurora' or 'northern lights' mode โ our ambient projector lamp has exactly that.
Where do I point a sunset lamp?+
At a flat, light-colored wall about 3โ6 feet away. The farther the throw, the softer and bigger the gradient looks.
Safe for kids' rooms?+
Yep โ LED projectors stay cool and dim. Just set the timer so it switches off after they're asleep.
